"We treat your home as if it were our own." Ed Jones
Spiders...the mere mention of this arachnid sends some people into
an arachnophobic state! They are, however, beneficial at certain times and
places. Should this time or place not be in your house and your threshold
of tolerance will not allow for their residency, control can be quite easy.
Our experience has shown that most people try to control
arachnids in a reverse fashion. Many times when we are called in to treat
spiders, their webs have already been removed and the area treated.
But spiders, with their long legs, are able to extend themselves up off the
treated surface thereby avoiding lethal contact with the pesticide.
In order to achieve better results, we suggest applying the pesticide
over the top of the spiders' webs. This allows the treatment to stick to the
web, allowing the spiders to access it more readily. We then suggest
leaving the webs in place for 7-10 days after treating. Their contact with
the pesticide will be much greater and so will the success of control.
A word of caution...most treatments mandate the release of a
pesticide overhead. Because of this, some sort of respiratory protection
should be worn. It is also suggested that treatment be started in a back
corner of the home. Then work your way back out of the home, paying
special attention to windows as they are usually a spider's most favorite
hunting ground. In addition, the house should be vacated for at least two hours to allow for
settlement and aeration.
And, as always, if this is not a task you prefer to tackle yourself, call
us here at No-Risk Exterminating for professional and competent service.
